FarmTwo Agritech is a social enterprise under One Direction Institute that addresses two of the biggest challenges facing smallholder farmers in Uganda: limited farming skills and lack of access to affordable credit.
For many rural farmers, low productivity is not due to a lack of hard work, but because they cannot access quality inputs, modern techniques, or reliable markets. FarmTwo Agritech bridges this gap by combining input financing, farmer training, and market support into one integrated solution.
What We Do
- Input Financing on Credit
- Farmers receive access to quality seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and tools on credit.
- Inputs are provided at the beginning of the farming season, and repayment is made after harvest.
- This model reduces the financial burden on farmers and ensures they can plant on time with improved inputs.
- Capacity Building and Training
- Farmers are trained on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), soil management, pest control, and post-harvest handling.
- Demonstration plots are used to teach farmers climate-smart and modern farming techniques.
- Extension support is provided throughout the farming season.
- Bundled Agribusiness Services
- Bulking and Aggregation – Farmers are organized into groups to bulk their produce, giving them bargaining power.
- Market Linkage – FarmTwo connects farmers directly to buyers, reducing exploitation by middlemen.
- Value Chain Support – Farmers are linked to processors and agribusiness partners for value addition.
- Financial Inclusion
- Farmers build a credit history through FarmTwo’s model, making them eligible for future financing from banks and microfinance institutions.
- Training in financial literacy and agribusiness management equips farmers to transition from subsistence to commercial farming.
Impact
FarmTwo Agritech is transforming rural agriculture by:
- Increasing access to credit and inputs for smallholder farmers.
- Boosting farm productivity and household incomes.
- Reducing post-harvest losses through training and bulking systems.
- Empowering farmers to see farming as a business, not just subsistence.
- Strengthening rural economies by linking farmers to profitable markets.
Vision
To build a network of empowered, creditworthy, and commercially oriented farmers who contribute to food security and rural economic growth.
