Green Renaissance Farm is a community-based demonstration farm designed to equip rural farmers in Uganda with practical knowledge and skills in modern agriculture. In many rural areas, access to agricultural advisory services is very limited, leaving smallholder farmers dependent on outdated methods that result in low yields and persistent poverty.
At Green Renaissance Farm, farmers:
- Learn hands-on modern farming techniques through field demonstrations.
- Receive free agricultural advisory services tailored to their needs.
- Participate in farm clinics and training sessions on improved crop and livestock management.
- Access new and climate-resilient varieties of crops developed through local research.
The farm is also home to the Renaissance Agricultural Research Center, which carries out adaptive research and local breeding to multiply improved varieties of seeds and livestock for community use.
Unlike conventional extension models, Green Renaissance Farm sustains itself by generating income from its own farm production, ensuring that training and advisory services remain free and accessible to low-income villagers.
Impact Goal:
To transform subsistence farmers into commercially-oriented agripreneurs by bridging the gap between research, demonstration, and farmer practice.
